Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a patient favourite here at Lakewood Dental.

This transformative, accessible treatment is an instant pick-me-up for teeth in need of some cosmetic TLC.

Introduction to Composite Bonding

  • Fixes minor chips and cracks on individual teeth.
  • Closes small gaps in your smile.
  • Enhances smile symmetry.
  • Improves the width and length proportions of individual teeth.
  • Whitens discoloured teeth (when teeth whitening gels cannot).

Composite Bonding in a Nutshell

Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental technique addressing a range of minor aesthetic concerns with your teeth.

Your dentist carefully applies thin sheets of composite resin to individual teeth. This method allows them to restructure the tooth, and to capture the distinct appearance of real tooth enamel. Once the resins are placed, adhered, and polished, you won’t see where the resins meet your natural tooth structure, giving you a natural-looking smile that you can wear with pride. Every. Single. Day.

Why our Patients Love Composite Bonding

  • Produces same-day results.
  • Completed in one appointment.
  • No drilling or anaesthetic.
  • Corrects uneven-looking teeth (by closing small gaps).
  • Cost-effective and preservative alternative to veneers.
  • Ideal for nervous patients.
  • Discoloured teeth can be improved.
  • Suitable when whitening gel can’t be used.

Your Patient Journey

Consultation
Your dentist assesses your smile to ensure you are medically fit for composite bonding. Good dental and oral health are required before any cosmetic dental treatment.

Our dentists value the personal touch. This means having an open and frank conversation about what you would like to gain from treatment. We will always be honest regarding any limitations surrounding your treatment, and our detail-orientated dentist will analyse your smile anatomy carefully to produce the most natural results possible.

Once you are happy with the proposed treatment plan, we can proceed with applying the composite.

Your Treatment
The composite resins are applied and carefully sculpted to your tooth. Your dentist will use a UV light to harden the resins. A special polish is used to give the tooth a natural-looking shine.

Our Promise
When you choose Lakewood Dental for your cosmetic dental treatment, you are putting your oral care in the hands of professionals who truly love what they do.

We believe in continuously finding treatment methods that make life easier for our patients. Ultimately, making our patients happy is the foundation of what we do and why we do what we do.

We spend much of our spare time keeping up with the latest composite layering techniques and actively encourage all of our clinical team to engage in advanced training and education.

Our oasis of high-quality dentistry is a serene environment that instantly helps you to feel relaxed and assured that you are future-proofing your teeth and smile.

FAQs

How long does composite bonding last?

This is dependent on how well you care for your teeth. Generally speaking, composite bonding can last for between 3-8 years though the resins are likely to become discoloured along the way, particularly if you enjoy copious amounts of teeth-staining food and drink.

Other factors influencing the lifespan of dental composite include:

  • Your hygiene status.
  • The location of the treated tooth.
  • Whether or not you bite on foreign objects (ice and pencils are one of the biggest enemies of dental composite!).

How much is composite bonding?

Please see our fee list to view the starting price for composite bonding.

After your consultation, your dentist will give you a fully costed breakdown of your treatment. We never go ahead with treatment until this treatment plan is fully understood and approved by you, the patient.

Can I have more than one tooth treated with composite bonding?

Yes.

In fact, this has become a popular option with our patients. Treating more than one tooth with composite bonding can be referred to as a “smile makeover”. A smile makeover is a holistic approach to cosmetically restoring and enhancing your teeth. Each smile makeover is carefully considered and fully personalised, addressing the unique cosmetic dental imperfections you would like to change.

As part of a smile makeover, we can implement other cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening or a scale and polish clean using our state-of-the-art AIRFLOW® system.
