Implants are our recommended treatment for patients seeking to replace gaps in their teeth.

Implants have many similarities to real teeth, and our dentists will create a natural-looking crown that is as unique as you are.

Introduction To Single Dental Implants

  • Replacement titanium tooth roots.
  • Suitable when teeth have failed due to decay/gum disease/injury/dental infections.
  • Fixed solution for tooth loss.
  • Biocompatible (placed within the jaw).
  • Pioneering implant brands used (Straumann/Nobel Biocare).

Single Dental Implants in a Nutshell

Single dental implants are the most toothlike solution for replacing gaps in your smile. Unlike dentures and bridges, implants are anchored into the jawbone and fuse together, creating a strong bond and foundation for a crown to fit over the top.

Single dental implants are used for individual missing teeth (one implant per tooth) and are placed under local anaesthetic.

Why Our Patients Love Dental Implants

  • Rebalance the chewing forces across your mouth (offering increased protection against tooth wear).
  • Prevent remaining natural teeth from drifting out of their position.
  • Prevent jawbone loss and the associated facial changes that can arise from this.
  • Boost your confidence and self-worth.
  • Autonomous – they don’t need any help from other teeth to stay put in your mouth (like bridges do).
  • No more movement – implants stay put when you’re chewing foods of all textures.

Your Patient Journey

Initial Consultation
Your dentist assesses your smile to ensure you are medically fit for treatment with dental implants.

Our dentists value the personal touch. This means having an open and frank conversation about what you would like to gain from treatment.

We will always be honest regarding any limitations surrounding your treatment, and our detail-orientated dentist will analyse your smile anatomy carefully to produce the most natural results possible.

Consultation (planning and prep)
Your dentist will take digital iTero scans of your teeth, a CBCT scan to gain a 360-degree image of your mouth and jaw, and X-rays and clinical photos.

This information provides your dentist with vital information about the anatomy of your jawbone. Using this information, they can determine the optimal site for maximising the success of implant placement.

Implant Fitting
The implant is fitted under local anaesthetic. A healing period will then commence (lasting 3-6 months on average). We will ask that you attend regular review appointments to have your implant and jaw checked over during the healing period. Your dentist will advise on best practices for caring for your implant and oral health during this time.

Crown Placement
A second dental impression is taken once your jaw has healed. This is sent to our dental technician, who creates the bespoke crown which will sit firmly over the top of your implant.

FAQs

How long do dental implants actually last?

There are a range of factors that influence the lifespan of an implant such as:

  • Your oral hygiene status.
  • Whether you use tobacco products.
  • Your general medical well-being.

In many cases, dental implants are a permanent installation within the jaw, though the crown (providing the chewing surface) may need to be replaced every 15-20 years.

Can implants replace an entire row of missing teeth?

Yes. We offer implant-based treatments such as implant-retained dentures and All-on-4 ”teeth in a day”.

These treatments can replace non-implant-supported dentures and bridges and be used to replace a full set of teeth in patients who have either lost all of their teeth or require a full tooth extraction.

What solutions do implants provide for patients?

Implants provide multiple functional and aesthetic benefits for your smile.

They are:

  • Protect the jawbone from atrophy.
  • Reduce the likelihood of dental problems that can be caused and exacerbated by living with gaps in your teeth.
  • Allow you to break down foods effectively (improving nutrition and reducing the possibility of indigestion).
  • Reduce gum irritation.
